The Ambitious

I haven't shone                      

                        thus far. 

I haven't shone                      

                        at all.                 

                Not that time                              

                                   has stopped.                

               Not that the ambition                                      

                                           has long                                               

                                                      died out. 

I simply haven't shone,                               

                                  yet. 

Not a single glimmer                           

                             has come out                                        

                                                 of me, 

not a single ray                       

                         of light.  

I am still engulfed                          

                              in the night                                       

                                                   of mediocrity.
